DHT and Hair Loss
Posted on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 by Zhan
DHT hair loss affects both men and women.
DHT stands for Dihydrotestosterone which is the result of the product
direct contact between the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, found in
skin and scalp with the hormone testosterone.
DHT hair loss is caused by DHT binding to receptor sites on
skin and hair follicles which interrupts and interacts with
normal chain of events involved in continual healthy hair
growth.
In order to do this in another way, DHT hair loss happens when DHT takes over
receptor cells (cells in the hair follicle that bind to
DHT) and sends false signals to the functioning of cells responsible
for proper hair growth.
Men usually lose hair first in the time domain, the other in
crown and third in the top or the top of my head. This is due
the concentration of sweat glands that carry DHT in these
the area.
Women on the other hand, generally thin in a diffuse manner.
